Kurara FM claims its fame as the 1st Community Radio Station to be established in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. It’s a family friendly Radio Station, situated, in the historical town of Kuruman with programming that caters for all ethnic groups. It started its first day of broadcasting on 01st January 2012 and it currently has 29 staff members (5 Managers and 24 Presenters). The RAMS (Radio Audience Measurement Survey) currently stand at 46 000 listeners per week (SAARF; July 2014).The station broadcasts in three languages, namely: Setswana (50%), English (30%) and Afrikaans (20%). It broadcasts 24hours, within the 250km radius, covering major towns such as Kathu, Danielskuil, Posmansburg, Olifantshoek, Taung, Kimberly and approximately 200 villages in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District. Kurara FM can be reached daily on 98.9 MHz.

The station has held a number of successful events, including partnership with Kalagadi Manganese Mine on the “Hope in despair green concert”. It’s currently partnering with SAB on its various campaigns. Kurara FM has not only become the home to many celebrities but it has also hosted dignitaries such as, Ministers, Premiers and MEC’s and has won the Best Radio show in the Youth Radio Awards 2013 & 2014.
